Lava Stone Tiles

In different cultures, volcanoes and mountains are symbols of the connection between heaven and earth.

For the Arhuacos, the snow-capped peaks are the representation of the sacred fathers, they are spoken to, they are asked for advice and they are respected; they are places of convergence and wisdom. But they are also geographical references, they are guides, and they serve to maintain balance.

They are described as the great placenta where the Arhuaco finds everything to satisfy his primary needs and to which he wishes to return to reunite with Mother Earth.

Phundwas is a tile for vertical covering, which will be manufactured with the strips of waste from the production of lava stone, in its smallest size, to optimize its use and reduce the waste material.

The strips will be cut into segments ranging from 5 – 10 * 10 * 15 – 70 mm, as shown in the technical sheet.

Some of the pieces obtained will be disposed of in different colors; three color variations are planned inspired by the colors of the sky, the earth and their union; the mountain and the volcano. and subsequently glued according to the designed design.
